It is not fair to accuse a government of leaving its burden for its succeeding government."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Outgoing President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono reaffirmed that his government would not raise the prices of oil fuels (BBM).
Increasing the prices of BBM now would add to the suffering of the people after the BBM price hike in 2013 and an increase in the electric tariff in 2014.
The issue over BBM prices have become a national controversy after the president, who would step down on Oct 21, rejected request of President elect Joko Widodo to raise the BBM price immediately.
It is calculated that the BBM quota would be used up before November this year and there is no budget fund left to buy more BBM.
Yudhoyono said he did not agree with suggestion that his government by not raising the BBM price would bequeath big burden for the coming government.
"It is not fair to accuse a government of leaving its burden for its succeeding government," he said, adding "a government always is confronted with challenges and it has to face the risk and the challenges."
He said the draft state budget for 2015 was made flexible to make it easier for the new government to set budget for any program not yet accommodated.
He said revisions could be made by the new government to accommodate the programs.
