The chief of the West Kalimantan regional police command, Brigadier General Arief Sulistyanto, confirmed here on Sunday saying he is still waiting for further information about the development of the case which is now being tackled by the Bukit Aman police in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
"What is clear is that what has happened has damaged what the West Kalimantan police command has done so far to improve the institution," he said at a press conference.
He said he received information at around 7.30pm on Friday while he was on his way to Singkawang from Mempawah that the Malaysian police had arrested three people in a hotel, following the arrest of a suspect at Kuala Lumpurs international airport.
Two of the suspects were found to be members of the West Kalimantan police command, namely Adjunct Senior Commissioner Idha Endri Prastiono and Chief Brigadier MH Harahap.
Brigadier General Arief Sulistyanto said in connection with the case he had informed the national police chief and sent a team to Kuching to deal with it on Saturday.
"They have met with the Malaysian police while the case is being handled by the Bukit Aman police in Kuala Lumpur," he said.
