The Polonia Immigration officers had detained the five Myanmarese because they did not possess passports."Medan, North Sumatra (ANTARA News) - The Medan Immigrant Detention Center has detained 16 Somalian citizens who were found roaming in Belawan City, North Sumatra, on Thursday (Sept. 11).
The Chief of Medan Immigrant House Purbanus Purba reported here that the foreigners were entrusted to the house after being found in Belawan area.
"After arresting the Somalians, the officers had transferred them to the Medan Immigrant House," Purbanus said.
The chief noted that the Somalian people had entered Indonesia without any legal documents, including passport, and had violated the Immigration Regulation.
Purbanus said the Somalians had been questioned and detained for several days in Belawan Immigration Office.
In addition, several illegal immigrants had been detained recently in the immigration house, including five Rohingya people from Myanmar.
The Myanmar people were transferred to the immigration house on September 5, 2014.

According to the Medan Immigration House on September 2014, at least 304 illegal immigrants have been detained in the house, including from Afghanistan (26), Bangladesh (11), Palestine (17), Myanmar Rohingya (64), Somalia (78), and Sri Lanka (40).
In addition, immigrants from Iran (17), Sudan (22), Eritrea (2), and Pakistan (9), as well as one each from South Africa, Taiwan, and Nepal, have also been detained.
