PHNOM PENH, Cambodia, Sept 20, 2014 - (ANTARA) - Garuda Indonesia has again won international awards for outstanding service. The Gold Awards from The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) were awarded for two service concepts, the 'Immigration on Board (IoB)' service product in the Marketing - Carrier category, and the 'Garuda Indonesia Experience' in the Heritage and Culture category. The awards were presented to Garuda Indonesia's Director of Service Faik Fahmi during the The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Awards 2014 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.




Achieving the PATA Gold Awards 2014 is in line with the various service development programs continuously being carried out by Garuda Indonesia for all customers.




Garuda's 'Immigration on Board (IoB)' and 'Garuda Indonesia Experience' services acquired the highest points in the Marketing - Carrier and Heritage and Culture categories, from the event's total of four (4) principal categories: Education and Training, Environment, Heritage and Culture, and Marketing.




'Immigration on Board' is a special document handling service that issues 'visa on arrival' on board the Garuda Indonesia aircraft, carried out by immigration officers specifically stationed on board the flight to Jakarta. In its implementation, Garuda Indonesia works together with the Directorate General of Immigration, Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights.




Currently, Garuda Indonesia offers the 'Immigration on Board' service on several of its international routes, such as Shanghai - Jakarta, Tokyo (Narita) - Jakarta, Seoul - Jakarta, Sydney - Jakarta, Tokyo (Narita) - Denpasar, Osaka - Denpasar and Sydney - Denpasar.




The 'Garuda Indonesia Experience' offers passengers a distinctive service concept ingrained with Indonesian hospitality and all the best that the country has to offer. The 'Garuda Indonesia Experience' concept reaches out to 24 customer touch points in various stages of the journey, starting from pre-journey, pre-flight, in-flight until post flight and post journey, through the five senses, namely sight, sound, taste, scent, and touch.




The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Awards for 2014 received 181 entries from 66 organizations/companies that are involved in the tourism industry from countries in the Asia Pacific region. The event was organized in conjunction with the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO).




Garuda Indonesia also won various international awards, among them The World's Best Cabin Crew 2014 from Skytrax during the Fanborough Airshow 2014 in London, the Gold Award for Amenity Kits products in the First Class Unisex and Business Class Unisex Asia/Oceania categories during the Airline Amenity Bag Award 2013 held in Hamburg, Germany in April 2014, as well as The World's Best Economy Class award from SkyTrax in June 2013.




In addition, as a result of the airline's ongoing transformation program and service improvements, Garuda Indonesia once again was nominated as winner in the Passenger Choice Awards 2014 for the Best in Region: Asia and Australasia category for two consecutive years from the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) - an association of businesses and professionals that that create, deliver, and manage the airline passenger experience - headquartered in New York, USA. In 2013, Garuda won the Best in Region: Asia and Australasia award from APEX.
