The Kompolnas Commissioner Edi Hasibuan stated here on Monday that they had reminded the Polri and TNI joint investigation team to focus on the illegal fuel operation.
The joint team of Polri and TNI was established to investigate the shooting case of TNI members during a raid conducted on an illegal fuel storehouse in Batam on Sunday night (Sept. 21).
"Regarding the case, we indicate that the Polri-TNI team had been the victims of a pitting scenario of the fuel mafia," noted Edi.
According to the Kompolnas, Edi emphasized that the shooting case was part of the law enforcement process.
Moreover, Edi added that the illegal fuel operations had caused losses worth trillions of rupiah to the state.
Therefore, Edi stated that the Kompolnas has ordered the Polri-TNI joint team to prioritize investigations into the operations of the illegal fuel mafia.
The shooting case occurred during a raid held by the joint team of Polri and TNI at the illegal fuel storehouse, which is owned by an individual with the initial N and is located 500 meters from the Police Mobile Brigades (Brimobs) post.
The joint personnel had to fire warning shots as some unidentified people intercepted them after the raid. During the incident, four people were wounded who were later identified as TNI members.
Chief Private Eka Basri, First Private Eko Syahputra, First Private Ari Krisdianto, and Second Private Hari Sulistiyo were the four TNI members who were wounded in the shootout and had to undergo treatment at the Embung Fatimah Hospital in Batam.
Previously, with regard to the case, Indonesian Police Chief General Sutarman remarked that the Polri and TNI had established a joint team to investigate it thoroughly.
"At this time, the team is still working and what we have to do now is wait for the result," General Sutarman stated on Friday (Sept. 26).(*)
