Lubuklinggau, S Sumatra (ANTARA News) - A 39-year-old woman was arrested by the police in Lubuklinggau district, South Sumatra, for allegedly trafficking crystal meth (shabu).

The suspect, identified by her initial as N, was arrested at her house in Bandung Ujung village on Tuesday (September 30) after the police received tip-offs from the public, Chief of the Lubuklinggau district police Adj. Snr. Comr. Dover Cristian Lumban Gaol said on Saturday.

Gaol stated that the suspect tried to deny any involvement with the drugs. However, when the police began searching her house, they found her holding a small package of crystal meth in her fist, which she was going to throw out.

During the search, the police confiscated 10 small packages of crystal meth. Some of the packages were worth Rp200 thousand, some worth Rp150 thousand and others worth Rp100 thousand to Rp300 thousand each.

The suspect, who is a mother of two, is now being detained at the Lubuklinggau district police station along with all evidence collected, the police chief noted.

According to the chief of the drug unit at the Lubuklinggau district police, Adj. Comsr. Herman Regasa, the woman has been charged with violating article 114 and article 112 of law number 35 of 2009 on narcotics.

If the suspect is found guilty, she could be given a sentence of at least five years.

"We will also conduct a urine test as we believe the suspect is not just a trafficker, but a user as well. The crystal meth she was supposed to sell belongs to her partner, identified as We, who has been added to the wanted list," Regasa affirmed.
