Zulkifli denied rumors that the event will be sabotaged or boycotted.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR) has confirmed that all political party factions will attend the inauguration of President Joko Widodo and Vice-President Jusuf Kalla on October 20.

"All factions have unanimously agreed to attend the inauguration of the president-elect and the vice-president-elect and make it a success," MPR chairman Zulkifli Hasan said after meeting with political party factions here on Monday.

He noted that two political party factions and one faction from the Regional Representative Council (DPD) unanimously agreed to attend the inauguration at the parliament building.

Zulkifli denied rumors that the event will be sabotaged or boycotted.

"When it comes to Indonesias image, all parties stand united," he observed.

According to him, it was decided that the MPR will form several bodies, including a budget committee, a research body, and an information body, each consisting of 45 members, to welcome the presidential inauguration.

"We do not follow a package system. The decision is unanimous. The bodies can be decided, including their job distribution and memberships, within an hour" he pointed out.

The MPR meeting started at 11 a.m. to discuss the inauguration preparations and was followed by a meeting of political party factions and a DPD faction.

Zulkifli said that at 4 p.m. that day the MPR leadership will visit President-elect Joko Widodo to present the invitation for his inauguration, followed by another visit to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for the same purpose.

"The MPR leadership will also meet with Jusuf Kalla and vice-president Boediono to give them the invitations," he added.

Zulkifli remarked that MPR leaderships efforts were to assure the public that no sabotage will happen and that despite competition the state leadership remained friendly and knew to prioritize national interests.

The Red-White coalition, which supported Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa pair in the presidential election on July 9, had recently swept the leadership positions in the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR), leaving no single role for the Great Indonesia coalition that supported elect Joko Widodo, leading some quarters to worry that the inauguration of Joko Widodo might be sabotaged(*)
