Binjai (ANTARA News) - Floods triggered by incessant heavy rains inundated hundreds of houses in two subdistricts in Binjai Town, North Sumatra, Wednesday.

"Floods hit two subdistricts in Binjai town," Ipul , a local resident, said.

The floods started at 3 am local time and submerged residential areas located along the bank of Bangkatan river in Binjai Town subdistrict and South Binjai Subdistrict.

The floodwaters reached a height of between one and two meters, forcing a number of local inhabitants to take refuge to higher grounds.
