Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil has signaled that the government plans to raise the price of subsidized fuel oils before January 2015.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - National Police Chief General Sutarman stated here on Friday that the police have made the requisite preparations to ensure security in case the government decides to hike the price of subsidized fuel oils.

The decision certainly presents both pros and cons for the community, and it is the task of the police to secure the situation in case of any eventuality resulting from the decision, he pointed out.

He noted that the police would adopt necessary anticipatory measures to foresee any likely rejection by the public.

"We will conduct early detection to find out the possible impacts of the policy. We will use the results of the detection to plan anticipatory measures to handle the on-field situation," he noted.

He claimed that in case protests do erupt, he hoped that the protesters will not resort to anarchy.

"I hope that no anarchy or violence will happen during the protests," he remarked.

He did not speak at length about it as the talks were still ongoing, but meetings had already been held to discuss the programs to receive energy subsidy transfer.(*)
