Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA News) - National Police Chief General Sutarman has ensured business security for present-day and prospective investors in Batam after a clash erupted between the police and military (TNI) personnel on Wednesday.

"Despite the clash, we have ensured that Batam will remain safe and conducive for investors who have established their businesses and those who plan to invest here," Sutarman stated here on Friday.

He noted that the clash between the police and military personnel in Batam, Riau Islands province, was over and will not recur in the future.

"Investors can go ahead with their business in Batam without being concerned about the conflict, for we will guarantee their security," Sutarman affirmed.

The National Police chief also called on the head of the military unit and commander of the troops to optimally deploy their members in order to maintain a peaceful and conducive situation in Batam for the investors.

"All parties must establish favorable communication. Do not let another clash create an inhospitable atmosphere, which can have a negative impact on the investment climate in Batam," he remarked.
