"Indeed, all members are registering. But, it is not certain whether the countries that have signed up will actually participate," Secretary of the Indonesian Students Sports Association (Bapomi) South Sumatra chapter Taufik Arief informed ANTARA News during a telephone interview on Thursday.
He revealed that the fixed participants will be seen during the technical meeting on December 7, which will be attended by all team managers.
Until the last registration, only six countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, and the Philippines have expressed readiness, Arief stated.
The opening match of the football competition at the ASEAN University Games 2014 is scheduled on December 8, although the opening ceremony will be held on December 10.
"The final round will begin with the match for the third title and will be held on December 20, or the day before the closing ceremony," he remarked.
He revealed that a team from the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) will monitor the preparations in the near future.
The ASEAN University Games 2014 will feature competitions in many sporting disciplines such as outdoor sports, volleyball, martial arts, taekwondo, chess, karate, wushu, football, and tennis and is expected to be attended by 3.5 thousand people.
This is the fourth occasion for Indonesia to host the event.
