"Of course, we will offer support to the Indonesian government regarding this matter. But, we will need more detailed information on the Indonesian fugitives," Wong remarked after a meeting with Indonesian Attorney General HM Prasetyo.
Apart from discussing corruption-related issues, the Macau Polices representative Wilson Wong and Indonesian Attorney General HM Prasetyo also discussed about protection of Indonesian workers in Macau.
Indonesia has been striving to curtail the number of corruption cases in the country during the past years. According to a Corruption Perception Index released by Berlin-based NGO Transparency International in 2013, Indonesias efforts to eradicate corruption from the country are progressing.
The survey called Corruption Perception Index 2013 placed Indonesia at the 114th position among the 177 countries being valued by the NGO. The rank was a positive development, considering that Indonesia was ranked 118th in 2012.
According to Transparency International Indonesia, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had successfully uncovered corruption cases involving high-ranking officials and parliament members.
