Budi Waseso arrived at the Komnas HAM building at 02.51 p.m. local time. He was accompanied by several adjutants.
Komnas HAM commissioners, including Nur Kholis, Roichatul Aswidah, and Sandra Moniaga, greeted Budi Waseso when he arrived at the meeting room of the rights body that had summoned him in connection with Bambang Widjojantos case.
The Bareskrim chief told reporters that he brought along the documents related to the arrest of Widjojanto.
"I have brought the documents, including the ones related to investigations and arrest warrants," he revealed.
Earlier, a Komnas HAM team also asked for clarification from National Deputy Police Chief Commr. Gen. Badrodin Haiti about the arrest of Widjojanto.
On Tuesday (January 27), the team also visited the KPK building to seek clarification from Widjojanto and other KPK commissioners.
Komnas HAM set up a special team on Monday (January 26) to follow up on a report from Widjojanto who has been accused of falsifying documents and testimonies related to West Kotawaringins district head election dispute in Central Kalimantan in 2010.
The 22-member team, including eight Komnas HAM commissioners, started working on Tuesday (Jan 27) and will accomplish their duties in seven days to submit their recommendations to President Joko Widodo.
Bareskrim detained Widjojanto for questioning at 7.30 a.m. local time on Friday (January 23) when he was driving his son to elementary school.
The police have named Widjojanto suspect in the district head election dispute. He has been accused of prompting a witness to give false testimony on the dispute at the Constitutional Court, when he was still a lawyer.
The arrest of Widjojanto came after KPK named National Police chief candidate Commr. Gen. Budi Gunawan a suspect for his alleged involvement in suspicious transactions when he was heading the career development division at the National Police Headquarters from 2003 to 2006 and handling other positions.(*)
