"Until now, bilateral relations with Brunei have been the most stable," he said after visiting the Royal Regalia Building here on Saturday.
He added that there had never been any problem in the relations between the two countries.
"Our workers here are also well-protected. There are not many problems, not even with our citizens here, so relations have been stable with no crucial issues," the president affirmed.
At a meeting with President Joko Widodo at the Nurul Iman Palace, Sultan Hasanal Bolkiah called for further deepening of the relations between the two countries.
In addition, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno L. P. Marsudi noted that the governments of Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam held a bilateral meeting on Saturday.
"The two countries agreeing to increase cooperation in the field of manpower and people-to-people interactions were among the results of the meeting," she revealed.
Marsudi also pointed out that for every six persons in Brunei, more than one are Indonesian workers, including professionals such as doctors and cabin crew.
During the meeting, Sultan Bolkiah expressed his appreciation of the role played by Indonesian migrant workers in the countrys economic activities.
President Joko Widodo arrived here on Saturday morning at 10:30 a. m. local time for a two-day official visit.
On Sunday, the Indonesian head of state is scheduled to visit the Brunei LNG factory and meet with Indonesian communities living in Brunei Darussalam. His visit to the country is part of his working visit program to three ASEAN countries---Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam and the Philippines.
Jokowi already visited Malaysia on February 5 and 6.
Following his visit to Brunei Darussalam, he will head to Manila to meet his Filipino counterpart, Benigno Aquino III.
In Manila, the Indonesian president will ink another bilateral cooperation agreement with the Philippines and meet the Indonesian community living in the city.
President Jokowi is accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economics Sofyan Djalil, Manpower and Transmigration Minister Hanif Dhakiri, Trade Minister Rahmat Gobel, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, and Chief of the Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI) Nusron Wahid, among others.
