"Its an honor for me to receive the highest decoration from the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam," Jokowi said here, Saturday evening.
Brunei Darussalam is one of the first neighboring countries visited by the president because Brunei has important meaning for Indonesia, he said.
"I feel lucky to have a partner such as Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah who is very much loved by the Bruneian people. And I am confident that Wawasan Brunei (National Vision) 2035 will be achieved under the leadership of His Majesty," the president stated.
The visiting Indonesian head of state also praised Brunei for playing increasing active role in maintaining peace globally as well as in the ASEAN region.
"We also believe that both nations have played constructive roles in strengthening peace at the global level," he added.
President Jokowi on the occasion expressed his hope that Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah could attend the Asia and Africa Conferences anniversary to be celebrated in Jakarta and Bandung on April 22-24, 2015.
Jokowi also congratulated the 31st Anniversary of the National Day of Brunei to be celebrated on February 23, 2015.
The Indonesian president was on his first two-day state visit to Brunei Darussalam, and held a bilateral meeting with the Sultan of Brunei.
During the bilateral meeting, they discussed bilateral issues, and exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual concern.
The presidents entourage included Coordinating Economic Minister Sofyan Djalil, Foreign Minister Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, Trade Minister Rachmat Gobel, Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri, Health Minister Nila Djuwita Anfasa Moeloek and Head of the Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Nusron Wahid.(*)
