Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Singkawang immigration officers have detained 11 Chinese nationals for violating immigration permits in Indonesia.

"They were holding tourist visas but were working in Indonesia," Jose Rizal of the Singkawang immigration office noted here, Friday.

The Chinese nationals were identified as Huang Xiaoming (58), Weng Junjun (24), Chen Mingwei (25), Wang Guocun (47), Kenzhong (21), Weng Dezhu (54), Zhang Xiang (23), Zheng Zuguang (39), Yu Liangmiang (41), Cui Xialong (39), and Ding Changgui (38).

They were arrested while working in a zircon mining company PT Mega Permata Karya Sukses in Capkala Sub-district, Bengkayang District, on Tuesday (March 10).

They were working as operators, supervisors, and financial manager in the mining company.

Any foreigners who work in Indonesia must apply for Limited Stay Permit Cards (KITAS). The Chinese nationals did not have KITAS, and therefore, they were detained.

The immigration office will also summon the owner of the mining company for employing illegal foreign workers.(*)
