PARIS--(Antara/BUSINESS WIRE)-- The World Branding Awards took place today in Paris, France. The glittering ceremony at the iconic Hilton Paris Opera honoured 50 brands from 22 countries. Global winners included Cartier, Club Med, Evian, Gillette, Gucci, Hermès, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, IKEA, L’Oréal, Moët & Chandon, Nike, Prada and UPS.

Winners from Indonesia included Indosat for Mobile Telecommunications and Acer Indonesia for the Computers–Hardware category.

The second instalment of the World Branding Awards 2014-2015, the Paris ceremony had an emphasis on food, beverage, luxury, fashion, lifestyle, hospitality, and service brands. The premiere Awards was held in London last year.

The Awards is organised by the World Branding Forum (WBF), a global non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing branding standards for the good of the branding community as well as consumers. It organises and sponsors a range of educational programmes, including collaborations with leading universities and museums.

“This is a celebration of the hard work that goes into building great brands. As half of the voting is by consumers, winners of the Awards clearly demonstrate that they have built strong brand loyalty among their customers and fans. The Awards is a testament to the people who work behind the scenes in building and maintaining brands,” said Richard Rowles, Chairman of the WBF.

Other national tier winners from Asia included China Telecom; NTT Docomo (Japan); SK Telecom (Korea); Pos Malaysia; SMRT (Singapore); Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces (India); and Chunghwa Telecom (Taiwan). Each brand was named “Brand of the Year” in their respective categories.

“Over 2,500 brands from 35 countries were nominated for the Awards. As part of the judging process, a brand valuation is conducted, and takes into account financial performance, advertising, public relations, marketing, and social media engagement activities,” said Peter Pek, Chief Executive of the WBF.

The Awards recognises the best global and national brands for their work and achievements. Uniquely, winners are judged through four streams: brand valuation, consumer market research, public online voting, as well as voting by the World Branding Forum Advisory Council.

Previous winners of the Awards include Apple, Coca-Cola, HSBC, Louis Vuitton, McDonald’s, Mercedes-Benz, Garuda Indonesia, British Airways and the University of Oxford. A total of 119 brands were awarded for the 2014-2015 period.
