Bandung (ANTARA News) - Some 1,300 Indonesian and foreign journalists have registered themselves to cover the 60th commemoration of the Asian-African Conference (AAC) in Jakarta and Bandung in April 2015, according to the Ministry of Communication and Information.

"The number of journalists who will cover the event has been confirmed; so far we have some 1,300 of them registered," Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara noted here on Wednesday.

Some events of the AAC will take place in Jakarta and this will accommodate some 1,000 journalists.

In mid-April, the minister will convene a technical meeting in Jakarta with some media representatives to discuss the AACs coverage.

Meanwhile, M Ridwan Kamil, the Mayor of Bandung, remarked that the local administration will provide optimal service for local and international journalists for covering the AAC events.

"I have met with the Minister of Tourism. A media center will be established in the PGN building on Braga Street in Bandung to provide professional support for local and international journalists," Kamil pointed out.

The Asia-Africa Summit will be held on April 22-23 in Jakarta. Leaders from several Asian and African countries will congregate in Bandung on April 24.

Meanwhile, the West Java Police will deploy nearly nine thousand joint forces personnel to secure the delegates of the 60th anniversary of the AAC.

"Delegates attending the 60th anniversary of the AAC will be secured intensively. More than nine thousand joint personnel will be deployed," West Java Chief Inspector General Mochamad Iriawan stated here on Monday.

He revealed that the AAC will be secured by personnel from the military, police, transportation department, and the citys Public Order Agency.

During the 60th commemoration of the Asian-African Conference and 10th anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia will host a series of high-level events under the theme "Strengthening South-South Cooperation to Promote World Peace and Prosperity" in Jakarta and Bandung from April 19 to 24, 2015.

Delegates from 109 Asian and African countries, 16 observer countries, and 25 international organizations have been invited to the event.
