Samarinda (ANTARA News) - North Kalimantan reported a sharp increase in exports to US$478.6 million in the first quarter of 2015 from US$268.9 million in the same period last year.

"The provinces export commodities included mining products valued at US$413.2 million , manufactured goods worth US$38.43 million and farm commodities worth US$26.95 million," head of the regional office of the Central Body of Statistics (BPS) Aden Gultom said here on Thursday.

The commodities were exported to mainly to China valued at US$136 million, India US$138.5 million, Taiwan US$52.7 million, Japan US$63.8 million, and South Korea US$30.86 million and Malaysia US$30.88 million.

Meanwhile, its imports in the first three months of the year included nuclear reactor, mechanical equipment, fertilizers, salt, sulfur and cement.
