"We send our vaccines to the countries under the name of Indonesia to help people who need to be cured of ailments," Corporate Secretary of Bio Farma Rahman Rustan said here on Friday.
He added that the assistance was part of an international corporate social responsibility (CSR) program of Indonesias strategic enterprise, aimed especially at people living in conflict-ridden countries.
Bio Farma also sends its vaccines to several countries that are susceptible to conflicts. Its products are sent directly to the countries and supplied via agencies under the United Nations such as the World Health Organization and the United Nations Childrens Fund.
"This CSR program with agencies of the UN is in line with the CSR international mission," Rustan noted.
Currently, users of Bio Farmas vaccines, which are manufactured in Bandung in West Java province, belong to communities in 130 countries.
The company distributes 13 types of vaccinations in both domestic and overseas markets.
The newest products manufactured by the firm are the Flubio and Pentabio vaccines.
"At present, we are developing a vaccine to fight typhoid," Rustan revealed.
Public Relations Manager of Bio Farma N. Nurlaela stated that the policy on developing and producing vaccines is intended to ensure biodiversity in protecting the health of the global community.
"We are ensuring that virus and bacteria cultivations encourage biodiversity," she added.
