"Currently, we are preparing land to develop a Sukowati C oil field," Field Manager of the Joint Operating Body of PPEJ Junizar Dipodiwirjo said here on Thursday.
To that end, he added, we are completing a variety of licensing procedures, including preparing related documents.
Dipodiwirjo explained that the development of 4.6 hectares of land for the Sukowati C oil field was part of efforts to increase yield from the reserves in Bojonegoro and Tuban, whose output continues to decline.
The Sukowati A field in Campurejo village, Sukowati B field in Ngampel village, and Mudi field in Soko have 59 oil wells altogether. Their production is approximately 19,000 barrels per day.
This is lower than that produced last year, which was some 22,000 barrels per day, Dipodiwirjo stated.
"The oil wells in the fields of Sukowati and Mudi decreased naturally," he pointed out.
However, according to Dipodiwirjo, the Sukowati fields still have potential oil reserves, but they cannot be drilled to produce 150 million barrels.
"The reserves have potential to produce some 150 million barrels. However, only about 30 to 45 percent of it can be drilled," he remarked.(*)
