Reshuffling the cabinet is the presidents prerogative, and it gives us new hope in dealing with the economic slowdown.
"It gives us new hope. The work of several ministers should be evaluated," he remarked.
Novanto also emphasized that the efforts of the reshuffled ministers should be appreciated.
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo swore in new cabinet ministers at the State Palace here on Wednesday.
He replaced some economic ministers, including the minister of trade. A former official of the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency, Thomas Lembong, was appointed as the new minister of trade.
In addition, former central bank governor Darmin Nasution was assigned to the important post of the coordinating minister of economic affairs.
Also, the chief of the Presidential Office, Luhut Binsar, was assigned as the coordinating minister of political, legal and security affairs.
Furthermore, Sofyan Djalil was removed from the post of the coordinating minister of economic affairs to replace Andrinof Chaniago as the minister of national development planning.
Former coordinating minister of economic affairs Rizal Ramli was assigned to the post of the coordinating minister of maritime affairs, replacing Indroyono Soesilo.
Moreover, PDI-P politician Pramono Anung was made the cabinet secretary.
The cabinet reshuffle was announced at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, where the new ministers took an oath.(*)
