"This number is approximate as we still have to conduct a scientific study," Hermanius said on Wednesday.
He said the number of relics from the ancient Malay Kingdom in Pekanbaru were considerable. But until now the ownership of this cultural heritage had not been determined because these spots had not been established as cultural sites.
According to him, the number of cultural sites in Pekanbaru could still grow if the scientific study found new sites that had historical value.
The Malay Kingdom heritage historical site consisted of the Tomb of Marhum Pekan located in the Pekanbaru Great Mosque.
At this location, there is the tomb of the Pekanbaru Kingdom Founder and the relatives of Siak Kingdom from 18th century, as well as the initial groundbreaking site of the Nur Alam Pekanbaru mosque.
In addition, there is the tomb of Datuk Tanah Datar and the tomb of Datuk Bandar Abdul Jalil, the Governor of Negeri Pekanbaru, Siak Kingdom.
The other notable site is the house of Tuan Qadi Sultan Siak H Zakaria bin Abu Bakar on Perdagangan Road, a bridge connecting to the Phontoon Caltex bridge, which serves as the entrance and exit gate of the bridge, as well as the oldest terminal in Pekanbaru.
There is also an old well at the Nur Alam Mosque, which was built in conjunction with the construction of the Nur Alam mosque, as well as a pulpit of the Pekanbaru Great Mosque, which is one of the four pulpits with Malay Arabic writings on the top, and which was made during the Siak Kingdom.
