Trump is a presidential candidate known to be racist, but the DPR leaders came to visit him."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A number of leaders of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) will explain their presence in a pre election campaign of U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump in New York, United States of America.
DPR Speaker Setya Novanto, Deputy Speaker Fadly Zon, chairman of the House Commission III Aziz Syamsuddin and deputy chairman of the House Commission I Tantowy Yahya and Deputy chairman of the House commission of VII Satya Widya Yudha were invited to a press conference by the US presidential candidate.
The meeting with Trump was not included in their official agenda in New York where they took part in a world conference of Parliament leaders.
The Indonesian delegation was to return home on Thursday but Setya Novanto and a number of leading members of the delegation went to the political campaign by business tycoon.
Trump even introduced Setya Novan as speaker of Indonesian House of Representatives.
The presence of the leader of the DPR had caused a national furor, drawing strong protest from fellow members of Parliament and political observers.
Observers said their presence at the political campaigns of Trump was seen as expression of support for the U.S. tycoon.
House deputy speaker Agus Hermanto of the Democrat faction said the DPR Honorary Council Tribunal will process the report of the meeting.
Setya Novanto and Fadli Zon had to give clarification explaining reason for their meeting with the U.S. tycoon, Agus said here on Monday.
On Sunday Usman M. Tokan, a leader of the United Development Party (PPP) said apparently Setya Novanto and Fadli Zon did not know their functions and duties.
Their presence at Trumps political campaign was against the law and preamble of the Constitution, he said.
"Trump is a presidential candidate known to be racist, but the DPR leaders came to visit him," he said.
Johnny G. Plate, deputy chairman of the Nasdem faction at the house, said Setya should know his positions and how to act with the position.
