A flash disk containing the evidence was submitted by Said Didu, special staff of the minister.
"On behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Pak (Mr) Hufron will hand over the original recording that we had received from the source to follow up on the transcript that the Minister of Energy (Sudirman Said) has submitted," Said Didu said at the Ethics Councils (MKD) room.
He said he had been assigned by Minister Sudirman Said to hand over the evidence of the recording in a sealed envelope.
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Sudirman Said, reported on Monday morning to the DPRs Ethics Council regarding the exploitation of the names of the President and the Vice President by a politician cum DPR member in connection with PT Freeports contract extension.
The minister told a number of electronic and national television media that PT Freeport was contacted some months back by a number of influential politicians, who attempted to use the names of the President and the Vice President.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla said he would wait for the due process in parliament (DPR), before taking steps in the case. "Since the issue is already known, so let us just wait for the process at the DPR. That will be the first step," he said at Halim Perdanakusuma airport here on Tuesday before leaving for Manila for the APEC Summit.
He added that he would probably file a lawsuit after learning of the DPRs reaction.
"After knowing the response of the DPR, we will take further steps," he said.
The Vice President added that it was only understandable if President Joko Widodo was angry after coming to know that his name had been misused for personal gains.
It was reported that the conversation showed politicians asking for shares on behalf of the president and the vice president.
Said Didu said the minister kept monitoring the case although he was currently on an overseas assignment.
"It is a mere technical matter to prove that it is really the recording of the conversation," he said.
He said his office had no intention to target specific persons by submitting the evidence but only wished to prove that there were many who were fond of promising certain people that they could help deal with certain projects.
He said his office had submitted the recording to the MKD because it had to do with an ethical issue connected to a parliament member.
Said Didu handed over the evidence wrapped in three layers of envelopes with the first a brown one of medium-size, the second also a brown one and the third a white envelope, as also a white USB drive that was handed over.
While handing over the evidence, he was accompanied by the head of the public information center of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Hufron Asrofi. It was received by MKD deputy chiefs Junimart Girsang and Hadi Soesilo.
Junimart said MKD would verify the recording on Thursday, adding that the results of the verification would be discussed at a meeting of the MKD before these are forwarded to the polices crime investigation agency.
"Tomorrow we will verify it to assure ourselves that the contents of the USB match with the transcript," he said.
The politician from the Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP), which is the Presidents party, said the MKD would only process the case in the context of enforcing ethics and he would allow the minister to refer the case to the law enforcement agency.(*)
