In principle, the children have the same right to education ..."Sleman (ANTARA News) - The government of Sleman regency, Yogyakarta, is ready to provide education to ex-Gafatar children who have been deported from Kalimantan Island.
"Actually, we are ready to help ex-Gafatar children who want to continue their schooling. But, we have got no clue on how to proceed with it," Head of the Education, Youth, and Sports Agency (Disdikpora) of Sleman Arif Haryono stated here on Friday.
The agency has not received data on the number of school-going ex-Gafatar children who have already returned to Sleman.
Haryono also appealed to some schools in Sleman to not reject ex-Gafatar children who want to continue their studies.
"In principle, the children have the same right to education, so no school in Sleman should deny admission to them," he affirmed.
Responding to a question on the count of Sleman students who are indicated of involvement in the banned organization, Haryono said he had yet to receive details on it.
Haryono remarked that he would order every head of the technical implementation unit (UPT) of education in Sleman to assess whether there were any students who reportedly went missing.
"But we cannot assume that the students who are not attending school for a long period of time have joined Gafatar. There are many possible reasons behind the students not going to school for a long time," he explained.
