The president and his entourage arrived at the Andersen Air Force Base at 06.31 p.m. local time after flying for six hours and ten minutes from the Jakartas Halim Perdanakusumah international airport by the presidential plane "Republic of Indonesia-1" for refueling.
President Jokowi is scheduled to attend the ASEAN-US Summit which will take place at Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage, California on February 15-16, 2016.
This ASEAN-US Summit is being held following ASEANs new strategic partnership with the US, reached last year," according to Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi at the Presidential Palace on Monday (Feb.1)
The summit, she said, will be used to implement an action plan regarding the framework of cooperation between ASEAN and the US.
Based on the data from ASEAN Secretariat, at the latest ASEAN-US Summit 2015 in Malaysia, both parties had agreed to take the dialogue to a strategic level.
The strategic partnership will be realized through the implementation of ASEAN-US action plan for 2016-2020.
The action plan will support three pillars of ASEAN Community and five priority areas, including economic integration, maritime cooperation, inter-nation challenges including climate change, as well as the empowerment of women and children.(*)
