The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange rose 74.82 points to 4,733.14 points with the index of 45 most liquid stocks rising 2.08 percent to 828.17 points.
"Rising share prices in other Asian markets sent positive sentiment to the BEI. The condition prompted foreign investors to return to buy shares," chief researcher of Universal Broker Indonesia Satrio Utomo said.
Foreign investors bought bank shares and big capitalization stocks after undergoing price fall in the past several days.
Trading on Friday was marked with foreign net buy of Rp152.921 billion .
Improving trend of the global oil market added to the positive sentiment in the domestic market, Satrio said.
The price of WTI Crude on Friday afternoon was recorded at US$33.38 per barrel or an increase of 0.94 percent and that of Brent Crude at US$35.44 per barrel or an increase of 0.43 percent.
There were 222,370 transaction in trade on Friday with 2.78 billion shares worth Rp3.86 trillion changing hands with gainers outnumbering decliner by 181 to 107 shares and 99 shares remaining flat.(*)
