"We reported to the president that the PBNU will host the International Summit of the Muslim Moderate Leaders on May 1-9, 2016, which will be attended by participants from some 60 countries," Amin remarked after meeting President Jokowi.
Amin said the summit aimed at creating a common perception for combating radicalism and terrorism, which are currently gaining strength.
He pointed out that radicalism and terrorism are getting stronger as was evident by the bombings in Brussels, Ankara, and Lahore.
Amin noted that the PBNU will cooperate with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take steps to anticipate terrorism and radicalism.
In the meantime, Siroj remarked that the International Summit of the Muslim Moderate Leaders will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center and will be inaugurated by President Jokowi.
He said the conference is expected to produce a declaration related to the eradication of radicalism and terrorism.(*)
