"A routine meeting, attended by the Indonesian (Communication and Informatics Ministry), Infocom Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore, and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) of Malaysia, is being held to discuss this issue," Rudiantara stated here on Monday.
The signal spillover frequently occurred in the Batam tourist destination of Nongsa, which shares Indonesian borders with Singapore and Malaysia.
The signals from telecommunication companies of Singapore and Malaysia are alternately accessible in Indonesia, marked by the arrival of short congratulatory messages from the two neighboring countries.
According to the minister, signal spillover in the border regions should not occur, and therefore, the three countries are coordinating to address this issue.
The IDA of Singapore, the MCMC, and the Communication and Informatics Ministry of Indonesia are part of the coordination.
The nations will ensure that the three telecom companies will control the strength of their signals, so that they are not accessible in the territory of other countries, the minister added.(*)
