We predicted that the peak arrival of visitors to Borobudur will occur on Saturday ..."
Magelang (ANTARA News) - At least 30 thousand tourists flocked to the Borobudur Temple in Magelang District of Central Java Province during the long weekend of Isra Miraj and the Ascension Day commemorative holiday.

"There has been a significant increase in the number of visitors since Thursday," Head of Administration and Finance of the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park Aryono Hendro Maliyanto stated here on Friday.

On a regular day, three to five thousand visitors throng the temple, while the number increases to 10 to 15 thousand on a regular weekend.

Maliyanto said his institution had forecast the tourist arrivals to possibly reach 40 thousand on Saturday.

"We predicted that the peak arrival of visitors to Borobudur will occur on Saturday as people will return to their hometowns on Sunday," Maliyanto noted.

Maliyanto affirmed that the institution was optimizing its services in Borobudur Temple to welcome the visitors.

The management has created a shortcut for visitors, so they take lesser time to reach the Borobudur Temple from the parking lot.

Maliyanto remarked that the management had created a shortcut for visitors arriving at Borobudur, which had reduced the distance between the temple and parking lot from 1.3 thousand meters to 600 meters.

Some visitors can also park their vehicles in unofficial parking spaces near the temple managed by the local people when the authorized parking area became full.
