"This visit is part of the planned development of cooperation between Indonesia and Russia or between Pertamina and Rosneft in particular, in the oil and gas sector," Pertaminas Corporate Communications Vice President, Wianda Pusponegoro said in a press release.
She said during the visit to the Tuapse refinery, which is a key facility in the Russian oil and gas sector, the Indonesian delegation was accompanied by the Chairman of the Management Board at Rosneft, Igor Sechin.
The Tuapse refinery has a capacity of producing 240,000 barrels of oil per day at Euro 4 and 5 standards.
Minister Rini and her entourage also visited the undersea oil fuel terminal facility in Tuapse that has a transshipment capacity of around 17 million tons of fuel oil per year.
Rosneft had earlier been reported as being a strong candidate for becoming Pertaminas partner in managing a new refinery in Tuban, East Java.
On April 24, Rosneft Chief Executive Officer, Igor Sechin had even held a meeting with Dwi, who had later met with Energy Minister, Sudirman Said and Minister Rini.
"Pertaminas Board of Directors I think has reported it to the Board of Commissioners, who felt that Rosneft offers a good market for Pertamina," Rini said.
Rosneft is also reportedly willing to work together with Pertamina in the field of oil exploration in Indonesia.
The company is considered to have superior experience in building 11 refineries in Italy, China and other places, as well as for its reliable technology.(*)
