President Jokowi and his entourage, including First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, arrived at the Chubu Centrair International Airport at 05.06 p.m. local time after a seven-hour flight from the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta by Presidential Airplane Indonesia-1.
The president and his entourage were greeted by the Head of the Japanese state protocol Kaori Shimazaki, Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Yusron Ihza Mahendra, Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister, Miki Yamada, and Aichi Governor, Hideaki Ohmura upon arrival at the airport.
The first agenda of the Indonesian leaders visit in Japan is to attend a welcoming reception held by the Governor of the Aichi Prefecture, Hideaki Ohmura in Nagoya.
Jokowi will later meet with Sri Lankan President, Maithripala Sirisena. The two events will take place at the Nagoya Kanko Hotel.
The main objective of Jokowis visit to Japan is to attend an outreach meeting during the G-7 Summit on Friday.
Presidential Communication team member, Ari Dwipayana stated in Jakarta earlier in the day that Jokowis visit to Japan was in response to an invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who will host the G-7 Summit.
Ari remarked that President Jokowi will be one of the speakers at the outreach meeting of the G-7 Summit, and he will focus on issues, such as stability and prosperity.
The outreach meeting will comprise of two sessions, with the first being held to discuss issues related to regional stability and prosperity, and the president has been requested to be one of the speakers.(*)
