Magelang, Central Java (ANTARA News) - A total of 53,792 people have visited Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java, until Saturday during the Eid holiday that fell on Wednesday.

The head of Borobudur Tourism Park, Chrisnamurti Adiningrum, said here on Sunday on Friday the number was 51,072.

"Since three days before the Eid the number of visitors has continued to increase," she said.

She said to boost tourist arrivals she had increased various facilities and presented new attractions including traditional art shows and giant puzzles for the holiday.

The operations director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko, Retno Hadiastuti, said she kept coordinating with village administrations with regard to parking facility at Kujong field.

"We coordinated with village governments to assure that access to the temple is not congested. The opening of the parking lot in Kujon has helped reduce congestion," she said.

In view of that she said the Kujong parking lot would be opened continuously so that visitors to the Buddhist temple must not always enter through the East Gate but could also enter through the West Gate.(*)
