President Joko Widodo who received Prime Minister John Key at the Merdeka Palace on Monday said in a joint press conference after the meeting: "It is an honor for me to receive Prime Minister John Key and this is his second visit since 2012. During the current visit, he was accompanied by 22 CEOs of noted companies operating in various fields."
He claimed that the meeting was very productive and friendly, adding they discussed cooperation in the field of economy, new and renewable energy sources and animal husbandry.
With regard to economic cooperation, he informed that the two countries agreed to increase trade and investment.
"Indonesia has proposed to immediately undertake export of tropical fruit exports such as salacca and mango," he disclosed.
President Joko Widodo hailed New Zealands investment in milk production and management sectors that had started in 2014.
"Indonesia has proposed making Indonesia a centre of milk production in Southeast Asia," he stated while accompanying Prime Minister John Key.
With regard to new and renewable energy, President Jokowi (Joko Widodo) reiterated that geothermal technology would remain the priority for cooperation between the two countries.
Indonesia and New Zealand agreed to step up cooperation in the field of water powered energy development, including investment in this field.
Regarding animal husbandry, he noted that the two countries agreed to strengthen cooperation in the breeding sector (livestock development) and beef-related sector.
"Indonesia invited investment from New Zealand in the breeding sector," he added.
President Jokowi mentioned that he and Prime Minister John Key also exchanged ideas on strategic issues in the world that were of common concern.(*)
