Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Tinombala Operation Task Force comprising a joint team of military and police personnel is looking for the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) terrorist groups 18 members after its leader, Santoso, was killed last Monday.

One of the countrys 18 most-wanted men is Basri, a second prominent member of MIT after Santoso, Spokesperson of the National Police Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar stated here on Monday.

Basri and his wife managed to escaped, while Santoso and Muchtar, one of his associates, were shot dead during a gunfight between the militant group and the task force.

Earlier, the wife of Santoso, Umi Delima alias Latifah or Jamiatun had surrendered on Saturday to the personnel of the Tinombala Operation Task Force.

Jamiatun did not attempt to resist arrest when the personnel of the task force took her into custody.

Jamiatun was arrested by members of the Tinombala Operation Task Force while conducting a search around Tambarana River in the Poso Pesisir Utara Sub-district, Central Sulawesi Province, at around 8:30 a.m. local time on Saturday and was sent to the Bhayangkara hospital for treatment.

After the killing of Santoso, a terrorist fugitive who had led guerilla attacks in the Central Sulawesi town of Poso, the rest of his followers were believed to have been surviving in hideouts in the jungles in the region.

Central Sulawesi Police Chief Brigadier General Rudy Sufahriadi has issued an order for the rest of Santosos followers to surrender immediately, as it will be in the best of their interests.

In charge of the 2016 Tinombala Operations policy in the framework of enforcing the law against the perpetrators of terrorism, Sufahriadi has urged Santosos followers to surrender at the nearest police station or military command post to account for what they have done.

The Central Sulawesi Police chief affirmed that the security forces were committed to humanely treating those who surrender and to upholding human right values during legal proceedings against them.(*)
