The countries have decided to strengthen cooperation in trading on fishery products to improve competitiveness, the minister said here Wednesday.
"The Indonesian ministry is very happy to help Fiji in improving human resources capacity, besides working together in data sharing on Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing," Susi remarked.
The Fiji government supports Indonesias suggestion to share data. This helps the identification process of fishing ships which enter both countries waters, and make the law enforcement straightforward.
Meanwhile, Indonesia has invited Vietnam to be a partner in fishery processed products.
The Indonesian government suggested holding a business forum for businessmen of both countries on September 2016 to improve bilateral cooperation.
The Ministry of Maritime and Fishery expects the investment realization in the country to reach Rp15 trillion in 2016.
"We have special private investment plan to reach such amount," the Director of Investment Development at the Ministry, Anang Nugroho, said.
Marketing and fishery processing are the most interesting sectors for investors, according to him.
The current investment value is Rp10.3 trillion, he noted.(*)
