"Integrated connectivity is guaranteeing an accelerated mobility for goods and people so that high additional costs can be avoided," Rini said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Minister for State-Owned Enterprises Rini Soemarno is making sure that the government continues to boost their effort of resolving national connectivity issues by increasing the quality of the transportation system, ensuring its ability to support economic growth.
"Integrated connectivity is guaranteeing an accelerated mobility for goods and people so that high additional costs can be avoided," said the Minister after a meeting with Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi at the Transportation Ministry offices in Jakarta, Thursday.
Rini said high transportation expenditure could lead to inflation that is caused by the rise of both goods and services costs.
For that reason, Rini added, it is imperative that the government find a solution for the countrys infrastructure from airports and harbors to land infrastructure.
There are a number of state-owned corporations in the transportation, harbor and logistic sectors, such as the Indonesian Harbor number 1 to 5, the Garuda Indonesia airline as the national carrier, Indonesian Railway, DAMRI bus, Djakar Lloyd and Pelni ships.
In this particular meeting with the Transportation Minister, the agenda was to discuss the progress of the Jakarta-Bandung streamliner.
"The progress of this Railway project is rather fast, it is just awaiting development clearance, which includes a number of requirements that need to be fulfilled and a number of notes regarding the land, but otherwise development can be executed entirely," she revealed.
On the same occasion, Transportation Minister Budi, said the meeting with Rini will be part of a routine agenda to settle land, sea and air infrastructure issues.
"We discussed issues regarding airports, harbors and railways as the President has mandated us to wholly take care of infrastructure development," he stated.
The Transportation Ministry is currently making note of their infrastructure inventory and determining the funding, whether they will be supported by the state budget, state or private-owned enterprises, or foreign corporations.
"The point is to open the opportunity for private partnerships in advancing national infrastructure," he concluded.(*)
