Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia is targeting to submit the document of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) to the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in September 2016.

Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya noted in a written statement received here on Friday that the handover of the NDC was part of the commitment of Indonesia, as one of the state parties included in the initial 55 countries to ratify the Paris Agreement on April 22, 2016.

In order to support the principle of Common but Differentiated Responsibilities and Capabilities as well as the aspects of Clarity, Transparency, and Understanding in the process of preparing the NDC document, Nurbaya remarked that the Ministry of Environment and Forestry had reported the progress of the document preparation process to the public and relevant parties.

Regarding the preparation of the NDC, she said some processes are already in place in terms of the efforts to follow up on the Paris Agreement that had been signed by several countries, including Indonesia, in New York.

According to Nurbaya, Indonesia still has homework to do in terms of taking steps to mitigate climate change, one of which is determining the measures to be included in its NDC document.

"Therefore, we want to gather inputs from experts and stakeholders, including the Ministry/Agency, in the framework of the preparation of this NDC document," she added.
