Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The House of Representatives will conduct a fit and proper test on Commissioner General Budi Gunawan as the sole candidate for the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) chiefs post.

"We will hold the fit and proper test next week," Chairman of the House of Representatives Ade Komaruddin stated here on Friday.

"We will discuss the fit and proper test at the leaders meeting. The consultation meeting will be held on Monday. Commission I will thereafter announce the schedule of the fit and proper test during the nearest plenary session," Komaruddin stated.

The test will be led by the deputy chairmen of the House of Representatives: Taufik Kurniawan, Fadli Zon, and Fachri Hamzah.

Komaruddin was scheduled to lead the supervisory team to oversee the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. Meanwhile, Agus Hermanto was scheduled to attend a meeting of the House speakers of the ASEAN in Laos.

The House leaders had received a letter from President Joko Widodo regarding the replacement of the BIN chairman.

The letter stated that National Police Deputy Chief Comr Gen. Budi Gunawan would replace Sutiyoso as the BIN director.

The letter was delivered directly by State Secretary Pratikno.(*)
