"Seven of the suspects are being detained at the Marangin district police station, while five others have been taken to the Jambi provincial police for questioning," director of general crime investigation unit of the Jambi provincial police, Senior Commissioner Anies Purnawan, said here on Monday.
The dossiers of the five suspects will be sent to the Merangin district police after they have been questioned at the Jambi provincial police, he added.
One of the 13 suspects has not been detained as he is an underage child, he noted.
The investigation of the 13 suspects is still going on, he said.
He did not rule out the possibility that there could be more suspects, depending on the interrogation of those already held and the witnesses testimonies.
Each of the suspects played his own role in the attack, with some acting as provocateurs, attackers and arsonists, he informed.
Hundreds of people had attacked and set fire to the Tabir police precinct station in Merangin district, Jambi province, on August 27 this year following an unconfirmed report that an illegal gold miner had been arrested.(*)
