"My office respects the ongoing law enforcement process in the Philippines regarding the human trafficking case," Head of the Law Information Center M Rum said in Jakarta.
"Velosos statements are needed to solve the case in the Philippines, which is why her execution has been deferred," he added.
Veloso was earlier put on death row but her execution was abruptly delayed due to a request from the Philippine authority, who sought her testimony.
Rum admitted that the Attorney Generals Office has yet to receive updates on the progress of the case.
"We respect the Philippine law as we do our own," he said.
Velosos execution ruling was based on Indonesian law and has nothing to do with the convict herself personally, he affirmed.
Velosos execution awaits a Philippine court ruling regarding a human trafficking case in which the drug convict is as a witness, Minister for Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly said.
"There is a trafficking case in the Philippines which is currently under progress and we are waiting for the courts verdict before we can take our decision," the minister added at the Co-ordination Ministry for Legal, Political and Security Affairs offices in Jakarta, Tuesday.
He explained that the investigation of the human trafficking case involving Veloso is being undertaken with the co-operation of the governments of Indonesia and the Philippines.
Although the Filipino procedural law rules that Velosos testimony should be taken in her motherland, the Indonesian government firmly denied the request and said that she should give her testimony in a written form under an oath in Indonesian jurisdiction.
"We have a legal force here, so we are just waiting for the legal process in the Philippines," Laoly reiterated.(*)
