Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inspected the development of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport railway project on a day when Indonesia witnessed a massive peaceful rally.

After receiving the report about the progress in the construction of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Railway project, President Jokowi, accompanied by Transportation Minister Budi Karya, left for the airport to see the project in person.

The plan to review the project was made earlier.

The president is accustomed to frequently reviewing the progress in the infrastructure projects. For instance, he checked the progress of the Trans-Sumatra Toll project six times.

The railway line connecting Manggarai Station in Central Jakarta to the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten is expected to be completed by early 2017.

The government had invested Rp2.5 trillion in the project that was started in 2015.

"There are still a lot of calculations going on," the president said as he inspected the development of Terminal 3 at the airport.

He arrived at the airport at around 11.30 a.m., accompanied by the Transportation Minister, and performed Friday prayers at the Nurul Barkah Mosque.

State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno, KAI president director Edi Sukmoro and Angkasa Pura II president director Muhammad Awaluddin were in attendance during the visit.
