Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Ten individuals who were arrested by the police on suspicion of conspiring to do some evil activity are being questioned intensively in the Brimob Command Headquarters in Depok.

"They have been arrested and are currently being questioned," said the Chief of National Polices Public Relations division, Boy Rafli Amar, in Jakarta on Friday.

He stated that the status of these 10 individuals will only become clear after 24 hours.

"After 24 hours, their status will be ascertained to see if they are named as suspects or not," he added.

Results of the investigations currently have revealed that those arrested planned to take advantage of the December 2 mass prayers to occupy the House of Representatives and the Peoples Consultative Assembly (DPR MPR) buildings.

Additionally, it was also revealed that there were contacts and communication among them to realize their plan.

"They had multiple objectives and planned to occupy the DPR MPR buildings. They could have done so by taking advantage of the December 2 peaceful mass prayers," he explained.

Earlier today, the Jakarta police arrested these 10 people, identified by their initials as AD, E, AD, KZ, FH, RA, RS, SB, JA and RK, on the suspicion of hatching an evil conspiracy.

Head of Public Information Rikwanto disclosed that eight of them were arrested on charges of treason and they could face a minimum of 20 years behind bars or even the maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

"As for JA and RK, they are charged under the IT regulations clause 28," revealed Rikwanto.

He further stated that all ten suspects were shifted to the Brimob Command Headquarters in Depok.

The arrest followed an investigation conducted by the Jakarta police force.

He observed that the suspects did not put up any resistance.

"There was no scuffle," he stressed.(*)
