Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian Police has named seven people as suspects for treason and charged them under article 107, juncto article 110, in the Criminal Code (KUHP).

"There are seven being charged under article 107, although the treason has not happened. They are Kivlan Zein, Adityawarman, Ratna Sarumpaet, Firza Husein, Eko, Alvin and Rachmawati," Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar, spokesman of the National Police, said here on Saturday.

They have been named suspects but not arrested based on subjective assessment.

However, they were questioned for 24 hours, and the investigation process continued without any arrest.

The police have recorded and written evidences about the suspects plan to occupy the Parliament (DPR) building, demand for a special session, as well as seek a government change.

Although the treason did not happen, the group of people could be charged under the article for their plan and agreement, Amar stated.

On Friday morning, the Jakarta police detained 10 people, including noted musician Ahmad Dhani, Eko, Adityawarman, retired high ranking military officer Kivlan Zein, Firza Huzein, daughter of former president Soekarno - Rachmawati, political activist Ratna Sarumpaet, noted politician Sri Bintang Pamungkas, Jamran, and Rizal.

Besides the 10 people, the police also detained Alvin Indra in Kedaung Waringin, Tanah Sereal.

Sri Bintang Pamungkas, Jamran and Rizal were arrested for allegedly promoting hate speech under Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law.(*)
