"We have prepared approximately 45 thousand extra seats," Chief Executive Officer of Garuda Indonesia Pahala N Mansury said in the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs offices in Jakarta on Thursday.
He further stated that the total of 45 thousand seats includes 32 thousand seats from additional scheduled flights and the rest from bigger airplanes that had been previously operating regularly.
"We should be prepared for two weeks of peak season by now," he noted.
The former CEO for Mandiri Bank added that Garuda Indonesia had also prepared a number of additional flight crew in order to provide the best services during the Eid holiday season.
Furthermore, he revealed that his office has prepared three extra airplanes to put on standby during the holiday.
"Two wide-bodied ones and a narrow-bodied one will be included," he added.
The government has started its preparations to provide adequate transportation services for the Eid holiday momentum that will fall in June.
The Ministry of Transportation has also asked the national carrier to increase the frequency of its flights by up to 20 percent for the week before Eid and the week after the holiday.(*)
