Kupang, E Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale hit East Kupang district, East Nusa Tenggara province, on Monday night, according to the local office of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

The epicenter of the quake, which struck at 09.52pm local time, was located at 9.48 degrees southern latitude and 128.86 degrees eastern longitude at a depth or 45 kilometers southwest of Sumba Barat Daya and at a depth of 72 kilometers, Head of the BMKG Office in East Nusa Tenggara, Hasanudin stated.

The quake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami, he explained.

There was no immediate report of casualties or material damages.(*)
