"I hope the UN for SMP would run smoothly and is free of fraudulent and dishonest practices," Education and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy stated.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A total of 4,205,337 students from 56,194 junior high schools (SMP) participated in the simultaneous national examination (UN) on Tuesday.

"I hope the UN for SMP would run smoothly and is free of fraudulent and dishonest practices," Education and Culture Minister Muhadjir Effendy stated here, Tuesday.

The UN will no longer have an influence on the students graduation, but the grades would be attached in their achievement certificates.

"Hence, we hope that the students would remain serious while attempting the exam," he noted.

The exam covers five subjects including Mathematics, Indonesian language, English, and Sciences.

The first stage of the UN is being held on May 2-8 and the second stage on May 9-16.

Of the total 56,194 schools, paper- and pencil-based UN will be held in 45,098 schools and computer-based exams in 11,096 others.

The schools using computers are located in Jakarta and Yogyakarta.(*)
