Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA News) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla has appreciated the renovated Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Aceh provincial capital Banda Aceh during its inauguration here, Saturday.

The Baiturrahman Grand Mosque has been equipped with 12 electric umbrellas, which resemble the style of the Nabawi grand mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia.

"This (mosque) is already complete," the Indonesian vice president announced in the countrys westernmost province.

Being the vice president and general chairman of the Indonesian mosques council, Kalla, who is popularly called as JK, expressed happiness and appreciation for all the efforts undertaken towards modernizing the mosque.

"Of course, it is complete only if the prosperity of the mosque is in line with its beauty. The prosperity of the mosque means that the mosque must be busy with prayer activities and must be beneficial to the society too," JK explained.

The iconic mosque of Aceh province has been equipped with 12 electric umbrellas at the mosque yard to accommodate more worshippers. From the previous nine thousand, the mosque is now able to accommodate 24 thousand worshippers.

Various support facilities have also been built in the mosque, such as an underground parking that can accommodate about 300 cars and 347 motorcycles, besides being equipped with escalators. (*)
