I feel honored. I am surprised that the garden is named after me."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A garden named after the Fifth Indonesian president Megawati Soekarnoputri has been inaugurated in Jeju of South Korea as a symbol to honor Megawati.

"In the name of Allah, I am happy to inaugurate the botanical garden," Megawati said in Jeju on Wednesday.

The garden was built by The WE Hotel management to honor Megawati as an inspiring figure of the hotel and some Korean people.

Megawati stated that she was very happy and proud that the garden was built in her name.

The construction of the garden was started in 2013.

"I feel honored. I am surprised that the garden is named after me. The Chairman of the We Hotel, Kim Sung Soo, told me that he has a hobby of maintaining natural and botanical gardens," Megawati remarked.

She added that a park named after her was also present in Minahasa of North Sulawesi Province. However, as the garden in Jeju was built first, the park in Minahasa will be the second brother of Megawati Soekarnoputri Garden in Jeju, Megawati revealed.

Additionally, Kim Sung noted that Megawati was an inspiration for the development of his hotel.

He expressed hope that the relationship between Indonesia and Jeju or South Korea will be closer in future.
